Secure Rooms

What are Secure Rooms?

Secure Rooms are a private forum on WParts with end-to-end encryption (E2EE). Each room is a forum section: inside a section, participants discuss topics, and replies are posted inside the topic. Rooms are intended for discussions between sellers, moderators and platform administration - for example, coordination between a seller and the moderation team.

Who can use Secure Rooms

  • Approved sellers, moderators and platform staff can create rooms and participate in them.
  • Buyers can join a room only by invitation from platform staff.

What end-to-end encryption means

All encryption keys exist only in the browsers of room participants. Messages, files and even room and topic names are encrypted on your device before they are sent, and the server stores and delivers only ciphertext.

This means that neither the server nor the platform administration can read:

  • the content of messages;
  • the content and names of attached files;
  • the names of rooms and topics.

The server does see metadata: who is in a room with whom, when messages are sent, and the sizes of messages and files. Metadata is required for the service to operate (delivery, unread counters, retention policies).

The one exception: reports

If a room participant files a report and explicitly consents, an assigned moderator can be given the room keys and will see the full history and files. This is the only way anyone outside the participant list can read a room, and every step of it is visible to all participants. See "Reports and moderation in Secure Rooms".
